Lichen planus and oral cancer: is there a connection between the two?

Oral lichen planus has been regarded as a condition with potential for malignant transformation. Critical evaluation of carcinoma cases arising in purported LP shows findings that raise several questions about the accuracy of initial LP diagnoses.
