The clinical diagnostic process: a prerequisite to excellence in practice

The ability to render good clinical diagnosis represents the mark of the "healing arts" professional. A sequence of diagnostic steps is proposed. Adherence to this scheme should be helpful in reducing diagnostic failures, thus improving patient care.
