Building the relationship between general practice and specialty dentists

Consultation is the cornerstone on which a strong referral relationship is built. Too often, general dentists and specialists underestimate the expertise of the primary practitioner. The importance of each professional is considered and situations are used to illustrate how the patient can be shortchanged when the two don't work as a team.
