The authors of "Assessing Physicians' and Dentists' Oral Cancer Knowledge, Opinions and Practices," published in the January JADA, wish to correct figures reported in Table 3. Table 3 reported physicians' beliefs that they were adequately trained to identify oral cancer. Of the physicians who reported that they examined 26 to 49 percent of their patients for oral cancer, 3.8 percent (n = 3) said they felt adequately trained and 10.0 percent (n = 8) believed that they were inadequately trained. Of the physicians who examined more than half of their patients for oral cancer, 16.3 percent (n = 13) believed that they were adequately trained. The data in the table were based on X2 = 24.38, P < .05.
