DOUGLAS M. GALEN, D.D.S.
Metastatic carcinoma of the maxilla or mandible is rare. Dentists, however, have an obligation to provide every patient with acomprehensive oral examination that can detect potential signsof such a condition. An extensive intraoral and extraoral examinationand a detailed evaluation of dental radiographs are necessaryto provide patients with the best treatment possible. This casereport describes how careful evaluation of an area showing subtlechanges on routine dental radiographs resulted in a more comprehensivework-up and the discovery of metastatic endometrial carcinoma.
