Three groups of patients with myofascial pain-dysfunction syndrome received 12 eclectic group psychotherapy sessions. The principal reason for selecting this mode of treatment was to observe the group dynamics for the operation of intra and interpersonal variables that might support the psychophysiologic hypothesis for myofascial pain-dysfunction syndrome and validate the existence of personality characteristics that are associated with patients who have myofascial pain-dysfunction.
