APPOINTMENTS/ ELECTIONS/AWARDS

Dr. James E. Buckthal, Raleigh, N.C., was installed as president of the North Carolina Association of Orthodontists. Other elected officers are Dr. Henry Zaytoun Jr., Raleigh, president-elect; and Dr. David Paquette, Charlotte, secretary-treasurer. Dr. Keith Black, Asheville, Dr. Raymond C. Ball, Morehead City, and Dr. Madeline Serrano, Hillsborough, are directors-at-large. Dr. David Hamilton Jr., Hickory, is immediate past president.

Dr. H. Garland Hershey, Chapel Hill, N.C., was named dental alumnus of the year of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.

Dr. Howard M. Landesman, Denver, was installed as president of the Academy of Prosthodontics. Other elected officers are Dr. Richard J. Grisius, Potomac, Md., president-elect; Dr. Gary Rogoff, Sharon, Mass., vice president; Dr. Jonathan P. Wiens, West Bloomfield, Mich., secretary-treasurer; and Dr. Stephen Campbell, Chicago, recording secretary. Dr. Edward Plekavich, Washington, is immediate past president.

Dr. W. Paul Radman, Dallas, was elected president of the Texas section of the International College of Dentists. Other officers are Dr. David May, Abilene, president-elect; Dr. Bill Stutts, Dallas, secretary-treasurer; Dr. Bill Clitheroe, Bellaire, regent; Dr. Leighton Wier, San Antonio, vice-regent; and Dr. Paul Stubbs, Georgetown, deputy regent.

Dr. Louis E. Rossman, Philadelphia, was appointed general chairman for the 2002 annual session of the American Association of Endodontists.

Dr. Martin R. Sher, Brooklyn, N.Y., was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame of Lycoming College.

Dr. Kenneth E. Starling Jr., Lawrenceville, Ga., was installed as president of the Georgia Association of Orthodontists. Other elected officers are Dr. Gerald A. Smith, Americus, president-elect; Dr. Robert A. Vaught, Savannah, vice president; and Dr. Jeffrey Jordan, Alpharetta, secretary-treasurer. Dr. Robert L. Waugh, Athens, is immediate past president.
