HORMONE REPLACEMENT

Dr. Jeffcoat’s October JADA editorial, "Risks, Fears and Choices: Unexpected Lessons from the Women’s Health Initiative," regarding the hormone replacement, or HRT, study is right on time for me.

I started HRT in June, and I am currently trying to decide whether to alter my regimen or stop altogether. I particularly liked the question about accepting a 0.08 percent annual risk of developing breast cancer if it would eliminate hot flashes. My answer was a quick "no!"—my hot flashes weren’t all that bad.

Dr. Jeffcoat’s editorial gives me valuable direction in a confusing sea of information. Thank you very much.
