ADA.ORG OFFERS A NEW TOOL: THE DENTAL BUYING GUIDE
Information at the click of a mouse. It’s what the Internet, at its best, is all about.

Mid-April saw the launch of a new source of such information on ADA.org: the Dental Buying Guide at "www.ada.org/prof/pubs/dbguide/index.html". Developed by ADA Publishing, a division of ADA Business Enterprises Inc., this powerful dental resource is designed to meet your need for information about available products and services for your day-to-day practice.

At the heart of the Dental Buying Guide is a powerful search engine that allows you to find information on dental products and manufacturers in several different ways.

If you seek a specific type of product, just select a product category, such as "amalgamators" or "implants and accessories," from a dropdown menu on the buying guide search page. Or, if you prefer, browse the entire listing of product categories. In either case, a results page will return the list of manufacturers who make products in that category.

Following a link to any particular manufacturer will bring you to a page providing detailed contact information, including addresses, telephone and fax numbers and Internet address, as well as the categories in which the manufacturer offers products or services.

While the listings for all manufacturers in the guide include the categories in which they make products, those who choose to do so also can purchase brand-name listings for their products, as well as detailed company profiles. To find specific brand names in the guide, you can simply search by keyword. Regardless of which products manufacturers choose to spotlight, all products bearing the ADA Seal of Acceptance appear in the guide.

In addition to product-type and brand-name searches, you also can search for manufacturers by name or location, or view the entire collection of manufacturers in a comprehensive alphabetical listing. A separate search function provides contact information for dental product dealers by geographic location.

A special bonus section, "Information to Guide the New Dentist," aims to offer recent graduates the information they need to launch successful careers. ADA membership benefits, practice location issues, income and expense demographics, and managed care and contractual agreements are among the topics covered in this feature, along with links to a host of resources for the new dentist on ADA.org.

In the coming months, the guide also will spotlight a Company of the Month. Each month, a profile of a dental manufacturer will offer visitors more information about the companies from which they can purchase products and services.
