Dr. John D. Chandler, Huntsville, Texas, was elected president of the Academy of General Dentistry. Other officers are Dr. Thomas A. Howley Jr., Perkiomenville, Pa., president-elect; Dr. Bruce A. Burton, Hood River, Ore., vice-president; Dr. David F. Halpern, Columbia, Md., secretary; Dr. Robert E. Roesch, Fremont, Neb., speaker of the house; and Dr. Roger D. Winland, Athens, Ohio, editor. Dr. James G. Richeson Jr., Washington, is immediate past president.
Dr. Bruce R. DeGinder, Williamsburg, Va., and Dr. William D. Powell, Gainesville, Texas, received the Distinguished Service Award from the Academy of General Dentistry. Other recipients are Dr. Harold E. Donnell Jr., Wilmette, Ill., Albert L. Borish Award; and Dr. James W. Robbins, San Antonio, Thaddeus V. Weclew Fellowship. Dr. Peter B. Laliberte, Waterville, Maine; Dr. Darlene T. Bassett, New Orleans; Dr. Kathryn L. Poleson, Camas, Wash.; and Dr. Larry E. Scheitler, Bay Pines, Fla., received the William W. Howard Academy Constituent Editors Award.
Dr. George Higue, Bell, Calif., received the University of Southern California’s Alumni Association President’s Award.
Dr. Douglas S. Ramsay, Seattle, was appointed chair of the Department of Dental Public Health Sciences in the University of Washington School of Dentistry.
Dr. Michael K. Shrout, Evans, Ga., was named executive director of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.
