SEE WHATS NEW AT THE NEW ADA.ORG
Launched last month, the new ADA.org has been redesigned extensively to provide quick access to the information you need and offers a host of new features, too. But dont worryall the services youve come to depend on are still there.
Following the structure of the old site, visitors are presented with content in three broad categories: information for dental professionals, resources from your ADA and oral health information for the general public.
During the redesign process, focus group studies found that the old site reflected the ADA as an organization more than a logical grouping of content, so the professional resources were reorganized into five topical areas: Advocacy, Education, Events & Meetings, Practice Planning & Protection, and Resources & Publications.
Each of these content areas contains a wide array of information important to the practicing dentist, including resources on ADA legal affairs, continuing education, the ADAs annual session, practice tools, financial and insurance resources, grassroots initiatives and the latest from your ADA publications. A new site feature is the addition of "Quick Links," providing fast access to related content of interest.
The site search function has been overhauled to provide for faster searches and more targeted search hits based on the criteria you enter. As before, you can access a dedicated JADA search engine that will allow you to search the entire online JADA archive by title, keyword, author and date of publication.
The ADA content area has been expanded to include ADA products and programs such as the ADA Product Catalog and resources from the ADA Survey Center, as well as the latest information from the ADA Foundation and the Member Advantage program.
This content area also houses up-to-date information on ADA governance; the ADA Seal program; searchable databases of component, constituent and international dental organizations; and an online membership renewal form. A new addition to this area is a multi-media tour of the ADAs headquarters building in Chicago, featuring the executive offices, boardroom, laboratories and library, as well as a sneak peek at the headquarters renovation project.
For consumers and dental patients, the "Your Oral Health" content area provides an index of oral health topics, a collection of animations and games, resources for students and teachers, and information on dentistry for the media, among other resources.
New additions to this area include a timeline detailing significant milestones in the history of dentistry and a collection of news articles, updated each week, on dentistry and oral health provided by ADA News.
In all, theres more reason than ever to visit your Associations Web site on a regular basis.
"The ADA.org redesign is one part of an organizationwide effort to enhance meaningful information for members and consumers," said Dr. James B. Bramson, ADA executive director. "ADA.org needed to be better organized and more user-friendly, and I believe weve accomplished that with the site redesign."
