Dr. Steven G. Garrett, Winchester, Va., and Dr. David S. Williams, Columbia, Tenn., were elected senior directors of the Southern Association of Orthodontists. Dr. John B. Whitley Jr., Baton Rouge, La., was elected delegate.
Dr. Edward J. Mills, Atlanta, was elected president of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. Other officers are Dr. Kevin J. O’Grady, Westerville, Ohio, vice president; and Dr. A. Norman Cranin, Hewlett Bay Park, N.Y., editor-in-chief.
Dr. Darryl Pendleton, Shorewood, Wis., was appointed assistant dean for multicultural affairs at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry.
Dr. Neil J. Small, Fairfax, Va., was elected president of the Northern Virginia Dental Society.
Dr. John W. Stanford, Scottsdale, Ariz., was awarded the Nakayama Memorial Gold Medal Award by the Japanese section of the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
Dr. Donald R. Toso, Metairie, La., Dr. John B. Harrison, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Dr. Michael B. Rogers, Augusta, Ga., received the Oren A. Oliver Distinguished Service Award from the Southern Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Robert A. Escher, Louisville, Ky., received the Citizenship Award.
Dr. David A. Whiston, Falls Church, Va., was elected secretary of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
