Do you have questions about compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Privacy Rule that went into effect April 14? You can get the answers during a live online chat with ADA HIPAA experts scheduled for June 26.
Sponsored by the ADA and the Academy of General Dentistry in a unique partnership of the two organizations, the chat will be open to members of both groups through their Web sites, ADA.org and AGD.org. Members can log in between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. CDT for answers to ongoing questions related to the HIPAA privacy rule and electronic transactions.
Robert Lapp, Ph.D., director of the ADA Department of Dental Informatics, and Colleen Johnson, an ADA attorney and director of contract analysis in the Division of Legal Affairs, will respond to questions submitted during the online chat. Dr. Howard R. Gamble, chair of the AGD Council on Communications, will host the event.
"Implementation of HIPAA privacy practices has raised many questions so this will be a great opportunity to share our experience with many of our members," Dr. Lapp said.
A recorded transcript of the chat will be available on both organizations Web sites after the event.
