RINGING IN THE NEW YEAR
How about this: take advantage of the resources offered on ADA.org to keep up to date with the profession, stay in touch with your colleagues and maybe save a little time and money. Here are a few examples of services offered through the Associations Web site that can help you make 2005 a productive and professionally fulfilling year.
JADA Online Continuing Education.
Thousands of dentists already have made use of this service, launched a year ago, which offers complete online test-taking, secure payment and grading for The Journals popular continuing education (CE) program. Each months test is available online as soon as the current issue is posted, along with tests from the previous two issues. Hyperlinks provide quick access to the full text of each article designated as a CE vehicle, and secure technology provided by JADAs CE partner, the University of Colorado, ensures your credit card information will remain safe and private. To participate in the JADA CE program online, visit "www.ada.org/goto/jadace".
ADA Discussion Forum.
Stay in touch with the community of dentistry by participating in the Associations online Discussion Forum. Post questions on topics such as practice management, continuing education, dental practice, insurance, dental equipment, ADA activities or any other matter of concern to the profession. You also can submit replies to questions posted by your colleagues or join a continuing discussion. Visit "www.ada.org/forum".
ADA CE database.
ADA members can find information on more than 1,000 CE courses presented by ADA Continuing Education Recognition Program (CERP) providers in this fully searchable database. Search for CE opportunities by date, location, subject area or provider. You also can browse courses associated with cruise and travel destinations worldwide by geographic location. By choosing a CERP-recognized provider, you can rest assured the course will meet the ADAs standards for quality continuing education. To find your next CE opportunity, visit "www.ada.org/goto/ce".
ADA online calendar.
Use ADA.orgs visual calendar to find events scheduled throughout the year by the Association and other dental organizations in the United States and abroad. A keyword search lets you locate a specific event by title or location, while a drop-down menu enables searches organized by ADA-sponsored events and national or international events. A "detail" view for each event provides contact information to enable you to learn more about the event. Visit "www.ada.org/goto/calendar".
ADA Library.
The online catalog lists all book titles acquired by the ADA Library since 1970. Though the online catalog is not a full-text database, it can help you identify and request books from the library. Last year, the library introduced a new service offering members electronic delivery of dental journal articles in portable document format (PDF). After requesting electronic delivery of an article, youll receive an e-mail notification containing a password and a hyperlink to access the article online; it can be viewed and printed for up to two weeks or five viewings. To learn more about what the ADA Library offers online, visit "www.ada.org/goto/library".
