Dr. D. Gregory Chadwick, Charlotte, N.C., was named East Carolina University’s associate vice chancellor for oral health.

Dr. William H. DeKock, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, received the American Association of Orthodontists’ James E. Brophy Distinguished Service Award.
Dr. Joe Hastings, Mobile, Ala., was elected president of the Alabama Association of Orthodontists. Other officers are Dr. Mike Upton, Tuscaloosa, president-elect, and Dr. Stephen Koonce, Florence, secretary-treasurer.
Dr. W. Shane Holmes, Charleston, W.V., was elected president of the West Virginia Association of Orthodontists. Other officers are Dr. John Younis, Martinsburg, president-elect, and Dr. Anissa Anderson, New Martinsville, secretary-treasurer.
Dr. William A. MacDonnell, West Hartford, Conn., received the Connecticut State Dental Association’s Horace Hayden Award.
Dr. Michael M. Perl, West Hartford, Conn., received the Connecticut State Dental Association’s Distinguished Service Award.
Dr. James C. Phero, Cincinnati, was elected president of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. Other officers are Dr. Joseph E. Carlisle, Rock Hill, S.C., president-elect; Dr. Karen E. Crowley, Methuen, Mass., vice president; and Dr. Morton B. Rosenberg, Boston, treasurer.
Dr. Antonio Ragadio Jr., San Francisco, received the University of California at San Francisco School of Dentistry’s Excellence in Teaching Award and the Riebe Award for Clinical Teaching.
Dr. Manuel Valerin, Oglesby, Ill., was named clinical assistant professor in the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry’s Department of Oral Medicine and Diagnostic Services. He also joins the Interdisciplinary Program in Oral Cancer at UIC’s Cancer Center.
