The online edition of the best-read journal in dentistry underwent a major upgrade this month as the JADA Online portal moved to a new hosting company.
You can find the new online home of The Journal of the American Dental Association, developed in partnership with Stanford Universitys HighWire Press, at "http://jada.ada.org".
"By partnering with HighWire Press, JADA now takes advantage of some of the most sophisticated technology available in electronic journal publishing," said Dr. Michael Glick, JADA editor. "The HighWire platform offers a superior set of search tools and advanced research capabilities, greater flexibility and user friendliness as well as specialized services such as e-mail alerts and toll-free hyperlinks to other HighWire-hosted journals."
"Were delighted to offer this new service to our readers," added Laura A. Kosden, publisher and associate executive director of the ADAs Publishing Division. "JADA will be in good company, joining some 880 other journals currently available through HighWireincluding 72 of the 200 most frequently cited journals in the worldand the largest repository of free full-text life science articles on the Web."
With the launch of the upgraded JADA portal, the Association also introduced a new open-access policy that provides all visitors with free access to all JADA articles more than 12 months old. This policy will enable all visitors to access JADAs entire archive after this one-year period.
Following a three-month introductory period during which the entire JADA Online archive will be available to any visitor, access to articles posted in the last 12 months will be restricted to ADA members and JADA subscribers. Other visitors will have the option to purchase access on a per-article basis.
The new portal currently includes every issue of the journal dating back through 1998 and will be supplemented with all issues from 1995 through 1997 in the first quarter of 2006.
