SEE WHAT’S NEW IN THE NEW JADA ONLINE
This month marks the launch of a new and improved JADA Online portal offering a host of new services. It’s all at your fingertips at "http://jada.ada.org".

Developed in partnership with Stanford University’s HighWire Press, the new portal implements many improvements to the online edition of JADA based on feedback from readers and puts an extensive set of research tools at your disposal.

Among the improvements readers will notice immediately are a streamlined process to find and access the full text of JADA articles, the ability to configure hyperlinks and bookmarks pointing directly to individual article abstracts and redesigned interface pages that load quickly.

But that’s just the beginning. Every facet of JADA’s online edition has been revamped to offer maximum utility for readers, ensuring that you can find the information you need easily.

Articles are available for download in two formats. The "Full Text" version of an article includes the complete article text, as well as all the figures, tables, boxes and references associated with the article. Readers who have used the previous JADA Online portal will be familiar with this presentation as the "HTML" version of the article. However, the new portal features greatly expanded functionality, including improved rendering of figures, tables and boxes with magnification options and hyperlinked references with "toll-free" linking to cited articles published in other HighWire journals.

Articles also are available in portable document format (PDF) files, which reproduce exactly how the articles were presented in the print edition of JADA. The free Adobe Reader (Adobe Systems, San Jose, Calif.) program is required for reading and printing PDF files; please visit "www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html" to download Adobe Reader.

Whether you view an article in Full Text format or as a PDF file, you’ll find additional tools to help you locate similar articles in JADA or through resources such as PubMed and Google’s Scholar search engine.

Individual articles also provide one of several avenues to sign up for e-mail alerts. The e-mail alert service is available to any JADA reader who supplies his or her e-mail address and can provide notice when a new issue of JADA is posted, the full table of contents of the issue and other special announcements about JADA.

The new JADA Online search engine powered by HighWire uses some of the most sophisticated technology available on the Internet. Queries can be built based on article citation, authors, title, abstract, key words, publication date or any combination of these parameters. You can limit your search to articles published in JADA or search JADA articles and those published in any number of the other 880-some journals hosted by HighWire. You also can sign up for additional e-mail alerts using the CiteTrack feature, which will let you know when new content meeting your prescribed search criteria is posted in participating HighWire journals of your choosing.

The new portal includes every issue of The Journal dating back through 1998 and will be supplemented with all issues from 1995 through 1997 in the first quarter of 2006.

Visit "http://jada.ada.org" to see all that the online edition of your Journal now has to offer.
