APPOINTMENTS/ELECTIONS/AWARDS

Dr. Elisa Chavez, Redwood City, Calif., was named a fellow of the Health Care Leadership Program by the California Health Care Foundation.

Dr. Thomas J. Connolly, New York City, was elected president of the New York Academy of Dentistry. Other officers are Dr. Dennis N. Morea, New York City, vice president; Dr. James D. Hudson, New York City, secretary; and Dr. Anthony J. Curinga, Montrose, treasurer. Dr. Henry E. Chalfin, New York City, is immediate past president.

Dr. Christopher P. Frigo, Gulfport, Miss., was elected president of the Mississippi Association of Orthodontists. Dr. James S. Henderson III, Hattiesburg, is secretary/treasurer. Dr. J. Kevin Holman, Tupelo, is immediate past president.

Dr. Nayra Grau, Chicago, was appointed clinical assistant professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry.

Dr. Alfred C. Griffin, Warrenton, Va., was elected president of the Virginia Association of Orthodontists. Other officers are Dr. William E. Crutchfield II, Chantilly, president-elect; and Dr. Anthony W. Savage, Virginia Beach, secretary/treasurer. Dr. Penny L. Lampros, Roanoke, is immediate past president.

Dr. Carlton V. Horbelt, Lakeland, Tenn., received the Harold Berk Award from Special Care Dentistry and the Academy of Dentistry for Persons with Disabilities.

Dr. Bailey N. Jacobson, Chicago, received the Distinguished Service Award from the Midwestern Society of Orthodontists.

Dr. Sol Silverman Jr., San Francisco, received the Faculty Research Award from the University of California San Francisco School of Dentistry.
