As stated in the introduction to the article, the purpose of our review article was to highlight advances in the field of endodontics in the past decade. A review article on such a broad topic can only highlight the recent advances.
The endodontic techniques and materials reviewed in our article are taught in U.S. dental schools and supported by scientific evidence. They satisfy the basic tenets of cleaning, shaping, disinfecting and obturation of the entire root canal system. We intended no preference to any contributor to the advancement of the profession, and relied solely on the scientific evidence when considering what is safe and effective for the patients. We believe that our profession owes the public no less.
