ACP was developed through the Paffen-barger Research Center of the ADA Foundation (ADAF), which holds several patents on the compound. The link between ACP and ADAF was clearly noted in the March JADA article. It should be noted just as clearly, however, that there is no connection between JADA’s manuscript peer-review process and the ADAF’s varied interests, financial or otherwise. In reviewing manuscripts for publication, JADA draws on a long-established cadre of more than 900 independent outside experts in various health/science fields who volunteer their time and expertise. No peer-review process is foolproof, but JADA’s is certainly beyond reproach.
