ADA PARTNERS WITH CAREERBUILDER
Do you need to fill an open position on your dental staff? The American Dental Association (ADA) has teamed up with one of the largest careers sites on the Internet to help you reach qualified candidates.

The ADA, in partnership with CareerBuilder.com, now is offering ADA members discounted online job postings for the dental team. Members receive a 15 percent discount on job postings along with the résumés of up to 25 qualified applicants through CareerBuilder’s SmartJob tool, a $125 value you receive free.

"When you consider dental staff recruitment tools, the Internet provides the greatest speed and efficiency," said Laura A. Kosden, publisher and associate executive director of the ADA’s Publishing Division, which facilitated the partnership. "With greater accessibility to such a large Internet career site, dentists will have better opportunities to find the candidates they seek."

NEW ONLINE CE TOOL GOES LIVE
General dentists, specialists and dental team members now can earn continuing education (CE) credits on ADA CE Online, a new continuing education tool that launched in July.

Log on to "www.ada.org/goto/ceonline" to check out the new program, take the free CE course and view a demonstration of the program and the 60-some peer-reviewed courses currently available.

Among the features of the program are a content-driven "virtual textbook" format that includes an audio overlay and downloadable supporting documents, dedicated customer service, secure payment processing, and access 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

You can preview course information such as abstracts and outlines before paying for a course. The system allows you to work on a course, stop if needed and resume the course where you left off. You also can take a course until you achieve a passing score, with assistance from the system in the form of references with relevant course information.

An editorial board reviews the ADA CE Online content to ensure that all courses meet ADA standards for distance learning and educational value. A separate advisory committee provides guidance to the editor-in-chief, editors and editorial board concerning the ADA CE Online mission, relevance and quality.

ADA CE Online is priced at $28 per CE hour for members and $42 per hour for nonmembers. Once you purchase a course, you have access to it 24 hours a day and have one year from the date of purchase to complete it.

After successfully completing a course, you will receive an electronic certificate showing the CE hours earned. Potential enrollees should check with their state dental licensing board to determine which courses are acceptable for licensure purposes.
