KUDOS TO ADA

I would like to take this opportunity to commend the American Dental Association, and specifically the Council on Scientific Affairs, on the council’s August JADA insert, "Professionally Applied Topical Fluoride: Executive Summary of Evidence-Based Clinical Recommendations" ( JADA 2006;137[8 special insert] ). To coin a cliché, "It’s about time!"

Since the changes in the ADA Seal program, I’ve been concerned that the ADA has not been as attentive to the commercial aspects that are infiltrating our Journal articles. The only improvement I could make on this well-written evidence-based guide to fluoride would be for the council to add an addendum that would highlight the cost per application, which would have immeasurable benefit to a practicing dentist.

I hope the council is commended for providing what I hope will be a continuing series of evaluations. This is truly a great membership service.
