HELP WITH HIPAA
A U.S. Department of Labor interactive Web site, the Health Benefits Advisor, offers private-sector employers information on the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other statutes covering health plans. The site is designed to help employers and plan officials understand their responsibilities in operating group health plans, the Labor Department said in launching it.
The Health Benefits Advisor (found at "www.dol.gov/elaws/ebsa/health") provides information on laws including HIPAA, the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, the Newborns and Mothers Health Protection Act, the Mental Health Parity Act and the Womens Health and Cancer Rights Act. Laws discussed on the site are covered under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974.

ADA CE ONLINE SEEKS REVIEWERS, COURSES
Launched in July 2006, ADA CE Online offers round-the-clock access to a comprehensive library of online CE courses, independent study course evaluations, automated grading and secure credit card payment. The cost per credit hour is $28 for ADA members and $42 for nonmembers. Newly reduced pricing for dental team members is $15 per credit hour.
The ADA CE Online editorial board reviews content to ensure that all courses meet ADA standards for distance learning and educational value. Editorial board volunteer requirements include the ability to review a CE course within two weeks and provide comments on its accuracy and relevance to dentistry. Three reviewers evaluate each course before it can be approved.
To volunteer, submit brief biographical information, including practice type, education and areas of interest, to the ADA CELL office by mail at 211 E. Chicago Ave., Chicago, Ill. 60611 or by e-mail to "mckinneym{at}ada.org".
In addition, ADA CE Online is seeking courses. A shared royalty program is available to organizations and authors for accepted manuscripts. Guidelines can be accessed at "www.ada.org/goto/ceonline" by clicking on "Submitting Course Content." If you have questions, call the ADAs toll-free number, Ext. 2662, or dial direct 1-312-440-2662.
