Author’s response

We appreciate Dr. Flanagan’s response to our article. Many of the clinical observations that Dr. Flanagan outlined may be correct. However, further research may be needed to confirm articaine’s efficacy, or lack of efficacy, when used for lingual infiltrations. We agree that the thicker buccal bone in the second molar region may hinder anesthetic diffusion.
