Author’s response

First, I would like to thank Dr. Hodgson and Ms. Hall for their interest in our article. In response to their question, we did not exclude any sport. The University of Southern California does not have a women’s softball team, thus no injury could be reported. Moreover, as discussed in the article, only injuries that were severe enough under the criteria established by the National Collegiate Athletic Association Injury Surveillance System were reported in our study. No data on the incidence of less severe dental trauma could be recorded.
