Author’s response

There has been some confusion about the term "essential oils." Essential oils, the active ingredients in Listerine Antiseptic Mouthwash (McNeil-PPC, Ft. Washington, Pa.) consist of a fixed concentration of four essential oils: eucalyptol, menthol, methyl salicylate and thymol.
