Author’s response

I am delighted that Dr. Chandra agrees that risk assessment is an essential factor in maintaining health for patients with periodontal disease. We welcome his thoughts on periodontal disease risk calculators. His proposal for the use of computer-generated risk assessment tools over time may well be the preferred method to account for the several kinds of factors involved. Dr. Chandra’s work and response demonstrate the international scope of the periodontal disease problem.
