I thank Dr. Annika Isberg and colleagues for pointing out in their January JADA article, "Craniofacial Pain as the Sole Symptom of Cardiac Ischemia: A Prospective Multicenter Study" (
JADA 2007;138[1]:749
), that craniofacial pain can be the sole symptom of cardiac ischemia. I feel the article failed to clarify the clinical application of this information. Does this article mean to imply that a reasonable standard of care is to order an electrocardiogram on all craniofacial pain patients?
