The National Institutes of Health is accepting applications for the NIH Directors New Innovator Award.
This award is part of the NIH Roadmap for Medical Research. It supports scientists who propose highly innovative—and often unconventional—approaches to major challenges in biomedical or behavioral research.
The New Innovator Award includes $1.5 million in direct costs over five years. The NIH expects to announce the recipients of up to 24 awards in September 2008. This award is open to new investigators who hold an independent research position at an institution in the United States, who have not yet received an NIH R01 or similar grant, who have received a doctoral degree or completed medical internship and residency within the past 10 years, and who will commit at least 25 percent of their research effort to the project.
Applications for the New Innovator Award are being accepted March 3 through 31, 2008. For more information, visit "http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-RM-08-014.html" or "http://grants.nih.gov/grants/new_investigators/innovator_award" or e-mail questions to "newinnovator{at}nih.gov".
